Italy, you know, is one of the countries that attract the greatest number of tourists, in fact, thanks to its countless natural, architectural, climatic, culinary beauties… Italy is in the top 10 countries in the world with the best tourist offer. This is revealed by the biennial study “The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2019 conducted by the World Economic Forum, which places Italy in eighth place in the global ranking, this demonstrates the healthy growth of the sector, also through the improvement of the necessary infrastructure and the adoption of sustainable tourism management practices.
So when you type on the internet “what to visit in Italy?” you enter in a huge range of lists with the irresistible seaside, mountain, lake. But the peculiarity par excellence of Italy lies in attracting tourists along its entire peninsula, there is neither north, nor south, nor center when we talk about beauties that deserve to be seen at least once in one’s life and are at the basis of the hotel industry. Consequently, even the places where tourists stay in Italy should be adequate and satisfactory as much as are the beauties visited. In this regard in Italy, there are many types of accommodation belonging to different categories, such as among the most popular: hotels, bed&breackfast, farmhouses, and also more specific structures such as mountain huts, resorts, campsites or mountain huts.
Unfortunately, ISTAT data reported that in 2020, the first season of the Covid-19 era, domestic tourism consumption lost more than 63 billion compared to 2019.
They are the direct consequences of the almost zero-setting of tourist flows both incoming and outgoing due to the health emergency.
Italy is a very varied tourist place, which often goes in conjunction with the seasonality, rich in sea and mountain resorts, depending on your preferences, and in both cases, it requires suitable accommodation facilities, well equipped and efficient for customers’ needs.
What is meant by “accommodation facilities”?
It’s meant the activity directed to the production of services for the hospitality practiced in the structures, including the administration of food and drinks to the persons’ house, to their guests, and to those who are housed in the accommodation.
Very often, not to mention always, people interested in visiting new places, and consequently looking for a place to stay, choose their destinations making use of the reviews left by other people. The review is an evaluation text that analyzes the services and aesthetic aspects of the hotels and the highest number of reviews are definitely addressed to the 3 and 4-star categories.
The minimum characteristics provided for the different “stars”, in particular 4 and 5, are:
4 stars: daily cleaning with afternoon cleaning of the room, daily change of linen, washing and ironing service of the customers, guaranteed parking for at least half of the rooms, double rooms of at least 15 square meters, and bathroom of at least 4 square meters.
5 stars: reception open 24 hours on 24, knowledge of three foreign languages by the staff, single rooms of at least 9 square meters, double rooms of at least 16 square meters and bathroom of at least 5 square meters. The 5-star hotels are usually the only ones that offer satellite television in rooms and a 24-hour luggage transport service.
Unfortunately, often, there is a lack of veracity of the descriptions of the hotels, these phenomena also occur in Italy, although all in all it is possible to say, thanks to the sites of overall national evaluation, that the Italian peninsula enjoys a fairly satisfactory hotel service and suitable for any type of eventuality.
