DDL ZAN.

It seems hardly possible to talk about violence of any gender in 2021, but worldwide it is still a lively and discussed topic, and Italy takes part in it unfortunately.

The Zan Law , which goes by the name of Democratic Party deputy Alessandro Zan, aims to contrast all discrimination and violence on the grounds of sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and disability.

Numerous artists, social influencers and personalities from the world of show business, in particular the famous rap singer Fedez, have spoken out in favour of it, pointing the finger at the Right League, which has repeatedly blocked its agreement.

In particular, the Law Project intervenes on two articles of the Penal Code, 604-bis and 604-ter, concerning the crimes of propaganda and incitement to commit racial, ethnic and religious discrimination.

The punishment for these crimes is imprisonment of up to 1 year and 6 months or a fine of up to 6,000 euro in the case of discrimination.

The law was stuck for a long time until, with 13 YES and 11 NO votes, the bill was scheduled to be debated in Parliament.

Now, as soon as the Law follow the normal parliamentary procedure, in the next meeting of the Commission, the general discussion will begin.

Hopefully, it will be soon approved and light will be shed on this issue; we are all equal and we should be free to express ourselves.
