On March 22 every year, water is celebrated, the element synonymous with life. World Water Day is an anniversary established by the United Nations in 1992, included in the directives of Agenda 21, the result of the Rio Conference. On March 22 of each year, the States that sit in the General Assembly of the United Nations are invited to promote water by promoting concrete activities in their respective countries. Coordinated by the UN Department of Social and Economic Affairs, International Water Day 2005 marked the beginning of a second international decade of the United Nations dedicated to water action.
In addition to the member states of the UN, since 2005 also a series of non-governmental organizations have used this day as a moment to raise public awareness on the critical issue of water in our era, with an eye to access to fresh water and the sustainability of aquatic habitats. The last meeting on the theme “water and sustainable development” was that of 2015 in Daegu-Gyeongbuk in South Korea. A week of online events to celebrate Water.
Publiacqua and the Water Right Foundation do not give up to the pandemic and also for this March 22, 2021 they offer teachers, students and citizens events in the area in which water is reflected and talked about. A reflection that starts from the theme identified this year by the United Nations, namely enhancing water. By knowing and celebrating all the ways in which water benefits our lives, we can enhance it and safeguard it adequately for everyone . In addition to these events, at the very opening of the week, precisely on March 22, a nationally important event organized by GLOBE and dedicated to all schools, universities, etc. professionals. in which Publiacqua and WERF were sent to present part of their online teaching proposals.
