Why visit Mdina

Mdina (also know as “Old City”) is a fortified city that served as the capital of Malta from antiquity to the medieval period. Since 1530 a.C. it served as a base for the military Order of Saint John until the French invasion of Malta in 1798.

Today it is a major tourist attraction as you can admire the various architectures of the many cultures that inhabited the island.

Some of the places you can’t miss when visiting the city are:

St. Paul’s Cathedral, where you can admire it’s beautiful Baroque architecture;

St. Paul’s Catacombs which are an extensive system of underground tombs;

And the city walls
