6 million people do not have water, this is one of the side effects of the Russian attack

The Russian attack continues: after weeks of attacks and bombings, the Ukrainian water networks are devastated, at least 20 separate incidents with damage to water infrastructure were recorded in eastern Ukraine alone, in many countries no more water arrives. According to UNICEF data, about 5-6 million people have not received food, water and medicines for days, and this is especially the case for children who go against so many diseases (polio, measles, infections, dysentery…). Worrying is above all the lack of water, one of the basic needs of life, a lot of people are forced to drink the waters of puddles or melted snow in order not to die of thirst, but increasing the development of diseases, in fact we begin to talk about a “health emergency”. According to the UNICEF representative in Ukraine, young children living in conflict zones are 20 times more likely to die from diseases related to unsafe water than from direct violence, as a result of war. Mariupol and Kharkiv are two of the cities affected by this problem, where testimonies of the lack of food, water and medicines come from. Also the major cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions are also cut off from water supplies and another 340,000 people will lose their water supply if a reservoir is drained in Horlivka. The Ukrainian people cry out for help, we need the opening of humanitarian corridors to solve this problem.
