I decided to choose as my first news article the war being fought in Ukraine (and beyond). I took my information from the newspaper “Il Corriere della Sera” and, in particular, from an article by Marta Serafini, sent from Leopoli. I chose this topic precisely because it is very recent and is being talked about a lot at the moment. I was shocked by one piece of news in particular: 90 children have been killed and more than 100 injured across Ukraine:

“E gela il sangue il dato diffuso dall’ufficio del procuratore generale ucraino che parla di 90 bambini uccisi e più di 100 quelli feriti in tutto il Paese, da quando la Russia ha iniziato l’invasione il 24 febbraio.”
In addiction, Russia has dropped bombs on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant:
“Il capo delle Nazioni Unite Antonio Guterres definisce <<uno sviluppo agghiacciante>> la decisione di Putin di mettere in allerta le forze nucleari russe”.
Marta Serafini also reports on the battles that took place in the city of Mykolaiv, east of Odessa, and Ukrainian prime minister Denys Shmyhal accuses the Russians during a process in Washington after zero progress was made in Kiev: “Le forze Russe si comportano come terroristi.”
On the Western front, 9 men were killed and 9 injured in a plane attack on the television tower in Rivne; the city’s governor, Vitally Koval, spoke on social media of “persone rimaste ancora sotto le macerie”.

Is a terrible conflict that is killing thousands of people, forcing them to leave their homes in order to get to safety.
