WANDAVISION: TRIBUTE TO PAST SITCOMS.

WandaVision is a 2021 US television miniseries created by Jac Schaeffer for the video on demand platform Disney + and based on Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff and Vision.

The miniseries is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and takes place after the events of the movie Avengers: Endgame (2019). WandaVision is produced by Marvel Studios, with Schaeffer serving as showrunner and Matt Shakman directing. Three weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Wanda Maximoff and Vision live an idyllic life in the quiet town of Westview, New Jersey, trying to keep their powers hidden. Going through various television eras and different styles, the two try to preserve their happiness and their love, but Vision soon realizes that what she is experiencing is an illusion and that Wanda is keeping the entire town under control. Meanwhile, the captain of the S.W.O.R.D. Monica Rambeau, FBI agent Jimmy Woo and astrophysicist Darcy Lewis investigate an electromagnetic field surrounding Westview in an attempt to rescue citizens stranded inside

Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their respective roles as Wanda Maximoff and Vision from the movies. Also in the main cast are Debra Jo Rupp, Fred Melamed, Kathryn Hahn, Teyonah Parris, Randall Park, Kat Dennings and Evan Peters. As of September 2018, Marvel Studios were working on several television series for Disney +, focusing on secondary characters from MCU films such as Wanda and Vision. Filming began in Atlanta, Georgia in November 2019 but was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production resumed in Los Angeles in September 2020 and concluded in November.

WandaVision premiered on January 15, 2021 and ended on March 5, 2021. The series has been praised by critics for its homages to past sitcoms, for its sudden changes of tone and for its interpretations of Olsen and Bettany.
