WALKING THROUGH THE INFIORATA.

FOREWORD:

Through a series of articles, I would like to introduce you to the beauty of Sicily, my land, because often you don’t have to travel for miles and miles to reach breath-taking areas that "force" us to take a souvenir photo able to arouse serenity and light-heartedness, sometimes you just have to turn the corner. Surely among the symbolic places of Sicily, there is the wonderful Noto, a small town in the South Eastern part of Sicily.
You have to walk along Corso Vittorio Emanuele where are located most of the monuments such as the Cathedral, also known as San Nicolò Church with two bell towers and a long staircase. But in May the most popular street is Via Nicolaci, where people celebrate the Infiorata, a flower festival; every year the city choses a topic, and around that, many artists make a colourful mosaic with leaves and petals forming a carpet on the pavement.

The Infiorata di Noto is now a must in the Sicilian region, a tradition that began way back in 1782. Today, with great pride, we can say with certainty that the Infiorata di Noto is one of the most popular events, for which we host tourists from all over the world in Sicily, who attend the show with joy and above all amazement at the beauty and majesty of this event, which has marked history and is undoubtedly one of the main icons of the Mediterranean island.
