Covid-19 has increased the use of the social platforms among children, amplifying data security risks. Thanks to the anti- contagion isolation measures, social Tik Tok has become more popular among teenagers. In this historical period where children are forced to stay at home, they spend a lot of time on social media, increasing the number of Tik Tok users.
This phenomenon has risen to 4 million in Italy, where lots are minors compared to other social networks. The minimum age is 13, but like all social networks, there aren’t any controls; moreover, you don’t need a profile to view Tik Tok’s content. In my opinion, another problem is represented by the evident presence of many minors who show their images without any privacy protection, often showing many physical aspects, in order to appear and conquer an “easy success” and a wide appreciation. Teenagers need the vigilance and common sense of their parents.
