THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

The UEFA Champions League is  better known as the Champions League or simply champions.
The name of the Champions League (“League of Champions”) replaced in 1992 the historical one of the European Champions Cup proper and established in 1955. Since the first edition and for the following thirty-five years, this league has included only direct double elimination rounds and the participation of only the winning companies of the various top national divisions.
In its current formula, the UEFA Champions League starts in July with three qualifying rounds and a play-off round. The six teams that pass this stage enter the group stage, joining another twenty-six already qualified. The thirty-two teams are therefore divided into eight groups made up of four contenders each, facing each other in round-trip matches. The sixteen classified in first and second place in the groups are admitted to the knockout phase, which begins after the winter break with the round of 16 and culminates with the final in a single match to be played in May or June. The champion team acquires the right to play the match valid for the assignment of the UEFA Super Cup and also qualifies for the FIFA Club World Cup.
The most successful club in the event is Real Madrid with 13 successes, followed by Milan with 7 trophies and by Liverpool and Bayern Munich at a height of 6. The competition boasts twenty-two winning clubs, twelve of which multiple: in addition to the four mentioned, also Barcelona ( 5 successes), Ajax, Manchester Utd and Inter, Benfica, Nottingham Forest, Juventus and Portò.
