The Titanic: a story of pure love

The Titanic is a 1997 drama film based on a true story, which tells the story of Jack Dawson (Leonardo Di Caprio) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet), belonging to two opposite social classes, during the voyage on the ocean liner. largest in the world ever built. He is a humble and light-hearted globetrotter, who lives on precarious jobs just to support himself and enjoy life day by day; she is a young girl descended from a wealthy family, now on the brink of the financial crisis, betrothed to the wealthy Caledon Hockley (Billy Zane).

Three years for construction, five days for the shipwreck. This is the story of the Titanic, the British ocean liner, produced by the Belfast shipyards, the highest expression of early 20th century naval technology, which sank on the morning of April 15, 1912. The tragic story of the giant of the seas inspired the cult film directed by James Cameron.

Rose experiences a deep and dramatic inner war: torn between having to adapt to a social conformism dictated by the aristocratic etiquette and a feeling of freedom that make her want to escape from the duties imposed by third parties, the young girl decides to make an extreme gesture and reckless in trying to jump off the ship, now on its way to the American coasts. Jack saves Rose by preventing her from unnecessarily taking her life, after that episode they begin to get to know each other better and when the relationship between the two is becoming more and more consolidated and deepening, fate plays its ace in the hole: the presence of a colossal long iceberg. the route of the ocean liner that transforms the journey of a lifetime into a catastrophic accident that will be remembered for years to come.

The film garnered fourteen Oscar nominations, and won 11: Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Photography, Best Visual Effects, Best Film Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing, Best Original Score dramatic, best original song. In my opinion this is one of the best movies out there and I highly recommend watching it when it returns to TV, or on apps like Disney + or amazon prime video.
