THE MOST ICONIC ITALIAN FOOD

Italian cuisine is renowned worldwide for its variety of delicious and traditional dishes. The quintessential Italian dish that has made our cuisine famous and appreciated around the globe is pasta. Pasta is a cornerstone of Italian cooking. From classic spaghetti alla carbonarato lasagna, each region has its own pasta variant. The shapes and toppings vary, but the passion for pasta is universal. There are countless delightful recipes to try, such as:

  1. Spaghetti all’Amatriciana: A Roman classic, made with tomato sauce, guanciale (cured pork cheek), and pecorino cheese.

2. Spaghetti alle Vongole:  A great Neapolitan classic. Spaghetti are cooked with clams, garlic, olive oil, and parsley. The Neapolitan tradition dictates that on December 24, which is Christmas Eve, a strictly fish-based menu is prepared for dinner. The first course typically consists of spaghetti with clams. Some prefer them plain, while others enjoy them “stained” with cherry tomatoes, strictly from the Vesuvius region. This Neapolitan recipe for spaghetti with clams is a delightful and cherished tradition during the holiday season!

Pasta e Lenticchie (Pasta with Lentils):

For warming up on a cold day. This dish is often associated with traditions and superstitions, especially during New Year’s Eve. It is said that those who eat lentils will enjoy a year full of wealth and prosperity. This custom has its roots in ancient Rome, where bags of lentils were given as gifts to hang from belts at the beginning of the new year. The lentils’ shape, resembling coins, facilitated the association with financial gain.

In summary, Italian dishes are much more than mere food. They are intertwined with traditions, myths, and stories that make them even more special.
