The Karate kid is an American martial arts drama film written by Robert Mark Kamen in 1984. Daniel moves with his mother to Los Angeles. After meeting the young Ali, he falls in love with her, but soon begins to suffer the attacks of her boyfriend, a karate champion. The boy, tired of the repeated ambushes of the gang, goes to the handyman Miyagi, an Oriental master, who teaches him the secrets of martial arts. The film was a commercial success and it is a semi-biographical story based on the life of its screenwriter.
