“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty the Queen announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
His Royal Highness died peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

These are the words that this morning, Friday 9 April 2021, went around the world in a few hours, today. His Highness Prince Philip of Edinburgh left us.
Following the announcement of his death, the whole UK has entered a period of mourning and all flags will be lowered at half mast and journalists will have to wear black, while members of parliament will wear black armbands, including the Queen. They will have to respect a period of mourning.
The prince has always said he didn’t want a big funeral but a simple ceremony. Tthe funeral could be held at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, and being a Royal Navy veteran, it is requested a military funeral. Prince Philip will then be buried in Frogmore Gardens, a cemetery used by the British royal family.
According to the Independent, the family can participate in the funeral ceremony. Friends and heads of state from Commonwealth countries, too, but the health situation may require a more contained funeral.
We all will remember this day, this day will go down in history. I don’t have much to say about it, but I wish him a good trip. Rest in peace Prince Philip.
