The 72nd edition of Sanremo Festival took place at the Ariston Theatre from 1st to 5th February 2022 and was conducted, for the third consecutive year, by Amadeus, who was also the artistic director. During the five evenings he was helped by five co-hosts: Ornella Muti in the first evening, Lorena Cesarini in the second, Drusilla Foer in the third, Maria Chiara Giannetta in the fourth, and Sabrina Ferilli in the final evening.
Twenty-five artists took part with their songs, all competing in a single section: 22 participants were well-known artists, while the others were the first 3 singers placed at “Sanremo Giovani 2021”. Each of these singers presented a new song, different from the one with which they had won the above mentioned competition.
This year Sanremo was won by Mahmood and Blanco, with their song “Brividi”, followed by Elisa with “O forse sei tu”, whereas the third position was gained by Gianni Morandi with “Apri tutte le porte”.
The 2022 edition of Sanremo was a record edition: with 64.9% of share, the final evening reached the highest result since 2000. Each evening had an average of 13 million spectators with peaks of 16 million (the fourth evening recorded 14 million and 731 thousand spectators).
Furthermore, this edition was also very successful in the digital platforms. The winning song “Brividi” gained 3.5 million listeners in just one day and it also came in the top 5 global Spotify. In short, it was a real success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
