SMART CITIES, FOR A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE!

The intelligent city (from the English smart city) in urban planning and architecture is a set of urban planning strategies aimed at optimizing and innovating public services. They combine the material infrastructures of cities “with human, intellectual capital and social life of those who live there “thanks to the widespread use of new technologies of communication, mobility, the environment and energy efficiency. Their aim is to improve the quality of life and meet the needs of citizens, businesses and institutions. The concept of smart city was introduced in this context as a strategic device to contain modern urban production factors in a common framework and to underline the growing importance of information and communication technologies (ICT), social and environmental capital. In defining the competitiveness profile of cities, moving towards sustainability and ecological measures for both control and energy saving, optimizing solutions for mobility and safety. The term smart city has also been used by companies and cities as a marketing concept.
