One article that struck me a lot, among those read, concerns a shooting in a school in Texas. The shooting took place in an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. The first reports in the American media were of two children dead and another 13 or 14 injured, but later the media confirmed the deaths of 19 children and two adults, including a teacher.
The alarm was given by the same school management. Shortly after 1pm the police department reported that the perpetrator of the shooting was in police custody, later his death was confirmed, he was killed in a firefight with some policemen, and his identity was revealed, his name is Salvador Roma, and he was an 18-year-old student. The reasons why he did this are not yet clear. Moreover, before opening fire on the students, it seems that the boy unloaded his anger against his grandmother, who was trying to stop him, and he injured her.
He used an AR-15 rifle and “the only sign” that a massacre was on the horizon was on Facebook, where he wrote thirty minutes before he reached school: “I’m about to shoot my grandmother.” Later he wrote: “I shot my grandmother.” Then 15 minutes before the massacre he added: “I’m about to shoot in an elementary school”.
The crime scene is large and will probably take some time to examine it and try to clarify the dynamics of what happened.
In addition, in a post on Facebook, the police asked the population to avoid the area. The students were then taken to Uvalde High School for reunification with their parents.
US President Joe Biden announced that in the next few days he and the first lady will go to Texas to meet the families of the victims of the Uvalde school shooting.
