PERSEVERANCE ROVER HAS SUCCESFULLY LANDED ON MARS AND SENT BACK ITS FIRST IMAGES.

Around 9,55 pm (Italian time) on Fri, February 19, 2021 The NASA Perseverance rover safety landed on Mars after 472 milion-kilometers journey from Earth.
Percy sent back its first images of the landing site a few second after touchdown, wich shows the rover’s shadow on the surface of the Red Planet inside of Jezero Crater.

The rover left Earth more than 6 months ago.
The mission personifies the human ideal of persevering toward the future and will help us for human exploration of the Red Planet in the 2030s.
Perseverance is looking for signs of ancient life on Mars. Inside this sophisticated rover there is an helicopter called Ingenuity.
The rover will explore Jezero Crater, this is the site of an ancient lake existed 3,9 billion years ago, Perseverance will collect pieces of martian stones and a follow up mission will return these samples to Earth. Ingenuity will be the first experiment to fly on another planet.

At today we don’t know what these rocks samples from the Red Planet will tell us, but what could tell us is monumental “including the possibility that life could have once existed beyond Earth”.
