One World Trade Center, officially called as Freedom Tower, is the sixth tallest skyscraper in the world. It is the main one of the New World Trade Center in New York. The height of the building is 1776 feet, equal to 541 meters and 32 centimeters at the flagpole, while the height up to the roof is 417 meters. It has 104 floors of which 75 can be used. The number 1776 was chosen since it represents the year of the declaration of independence of the United States.
The tower is located in the North-West corner of the site, for a total area of 325,279 m². The construction of the skyscraper officially began on April 27, 2006, with the laying of the first stone, and ended on June 30, 2013, with the installation of the antenna.
Other buildings will also rise around the Freedom Tower, one of which is residential. Not far away is the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, a collection of images, memorabilia and historical artifacts relating to the attacks of 11 September 2001.
