“The woman came out of the rib of the man, not from the feet to be
trampled, nor from the head to be superior, but from the side to be equal. A
little lower than the arm to be protected and from the side of the heart to be
loved “. (cit. W. Shakespeare). Today, despite a greater sensitivity in the
world, there are many violence against women and the number of
femicides has even increased. If on the one part the sensitivity of citizens
has increased, on the other, prejudices against women do not cease. Some
data can confirm this:
- 31.5% of women (6 million 788 thousand) claim to have been subjected
to violence by the partner. - 12% are threatened, 7% are subjected to slaps, punches, etc., 6% are hit
by dangerous objects, 11% are subject to jostling and jerking. - 24.7% of this suffered physical or sexual violence too (the most serious
forms are exercised by partners or ex).
It is so that all this are remembered every year there is the international
day against violence against women, on 25 November. These days of
remembrance or demonstrations are occasions in which we must unite and
shout enough to these cruel acts of backwardness which aren’t based on
precise reasons. This day “born” when in the 1981, in the first meeting
Latin American feminist and Caribbean feminist performed in Bogotà, in
Columbia decided it like a remembrance for the sisters Mirabal, subject
violence and dead.
25 november day’s is an international opportunity to say stop at the
violence against women, because these acts that violate the equality of
rights that must exist between the two sexes, must be eliminated by all the
people of the world, because by uniting we can end them and allow pace
and equality and justice in the future world because this violence are a
symbol of ignorance and backwardness and have no reason to exist and to
last over time. Stop violence!
