As everybody knows, adolescence is the time when kids start knowing famous people who become their ‘idols’ (people that are greatly admired, loved or revered).
But, in the last decades, something has changed in this scope…Our parents’ idols were very famous italian or foreign people; singers or bands like Duran Duran, Michael Jackson or The Queen; actors as John Travolta and Tom Cruise; football players like Baggio, Maradona or van Basten. These are some examples of kids’ idols around the 80s.
Today, in 2021, we use social media every day and some users can really become the new generation of idols. Actually, they may be singers, actors or football players but also youtubers, videogame players, beauty bloggers and ‘tiktokers’. All of them can soon become ‘influencers’.
Among the most famous people now we can mention Ariana Grande, Chiara Ferragni, Cristiano Ronaldo, but also Charlie D’Amelio, Favij, Me contro Te and a lot of actors from Netflix new series, as Stranger Things, Riverdale and La Casa de Papel.
This change in idols, however, can have negative effects. Actually, young peopl follow and imitate what their idols do. Youtubers, bloggers and influencers share everything they do in their daily life through their accounts and their fans imitate them. It’s ok to follow a person you like but you need to know they’re normal and very young people and so they can be wrong. That’s why you just have to think before imitating someone else!
