It is not a greeting as it may seem, but a camp that takes place every four years and brings together thousands of young people from all over the world. The name was given by Robert Baden Powell, founder of scouting, which means kids’ jam with the meaning of ‘scout gathering’ because Baden Powell wanted the scouts of the world to meet in one place to form a jam of colors and customs. Its peculiarity is that these guys are part of scout groups, so it is an openly scouting camp. It lasts about a week / ten days and its goal is to make the world understand what Scouting creates through the activities it proposes and the teachings it gives. Activities of all kinds are organized, from crafts to sports and cooking. Each group, or rather contingent, is made up of representatives of each region or state in the world so you can find the Italian contingent with representatives of Italy, the Chinese contingent with the representative of China, etc. Each contingent and the preparation in the field has the task of preparing typical activities of the country of origin, because during the jamboree there will be days dedicated to specific areas of the life of each country such as the day dedicated to cooking, so everyone will be led to having to prepare typical dishes, or the religious day so each contingent will do their own religious services and the others are free to be able to see them, or the culture day then where they will show the typical dances and so on for each day. Participation in this camp helps children to realize the multiculturalism of the world and how this enriches them and the people they tell their experience to. Being a Scout, from the various testimonies that are reported by ambassadors who attended Jamporee, also means bringing to others what you learn or experience.
