Michele Merlo was a famous singer and songwriter who lost his life at the age of 28. He was born in Rosa, in the province of Vicenza, on March 1, 1993. He loved music since he was a teen and his favourite bands were Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Jeff Buckley and The 1975.
He wanted to become a singer and participated in the tenth edition of the talent show “The X Factor” but he was rejected. He reached success in 2017, thanks to his participation in the talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi, ranking fifth after competing alongside the coach Emma Marrone. His stage name was Mike Bird. His debut album was titled “Cinemaboy” which was preceded by the publication of the single “Tutto per me”. In 2019 he released the singles “Non mi manchi più”, “Tutto per me”, “Tivù”, “Mare” and “Aquiloni”, included in the second album “Cuori Stupidi” in January 2020, made in collaboration with producers Federico Nardelli and Giordano Colombo. The same year he pubblished his book “Cuori Stupidi. Una notte può cambiare tutto”
He was a sensitive person and in an interview with Tommaso Zorzi he said: ” I treat my fans as I want them to treat me.”
On June 3, 2021 he was hospitalized in serious condition in the intensive care unit of the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna. He had a cerebral hemorrhage triggered by a sudden fulminant leukemia. Unfortunately, after the intervention and a brief pharmacological coma, Michele died.
