Since May 23, 2025, Catania Fontanarossa Airport has been linked directly to New York JFK thanks to Delta Air Lines. And just one day earlier, on May 22, 2025, Palermo Falcone–Borsellino Airport launched its own nonstop service to New York/Newark operated by United Airlines.

For the first time in history, Sicily boasts two intercontinental nonstop routes to the United States – a milestone with profound consequences for tourism, the economy, and the island’s international image.

Catania–New York (Delta Air Lines)
A daily nonstop flight, eliminating the need for time-consuming connections in Rome or Milan. This milestone was made possible by the determination of SAC Catania’s management, led by CEO Nico Torrisi, who envisioned Fontanarossa as Sicily’s true international gateway.

Palermo–New York/Newark (United Airlines)
Inaugurated on May 22, 2025, this service operates three times per week (Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) using Boeing 767-400ER aircraft equipped with lie-flat business class, premium economy, and economy. It elevates Palermo Airport’s status as a key Mediterranean hub.
