Rosario: Hi Valentino, thank you for accepting my invitation to ask you a few questions; let’s start with the first…: how old were you when you discovered your passion for motorcycles?
Valentino Rossi: Hi Rosario , it’s a real pleasure to me! I was very young when I looked at my father who had a passion for engines, in particular for motorcycles. I was 4-5 years old and I was already playing with motorcycles, those suitable for children of my age, and I enjoyed taking apart and fitting the wheel bolts, and I was jealous of my games, I was stubborn and I remember that I didn’t let anyone touch my games, not even my little cousins when they came to play with me.
Rosario: Has your family always supported you in this choice of becoming a pilot? Weren’t they afraid? Valentino Rossi: my father has always supported me. My mother watches my races but she still tells me that she only looks at the start and then waits for my father to tell her the race is over, because she says I run too fast with the bike and she is always afraid.
Rosario: Why is the number 46 on your bike? Did you choose it?
Valentino Rossi: yes, I chose it first because it was my father’s bike number and I wanted this number too, secondly because when I was little I was inspired by a very strong Japanese rider who also had this number.
Rosario: what do you think each time you start a race?
Valentino Rossi: I think about my family and my girlfriend, I pray that everything will be fine .
Rosario: What was your biggest victory?
Valentino Rossi: they are all great victories but one of them impressed me: it was the victory of the Italian Grand Prix in 1997 … it was a good race!
Rosario: one last question: do you have any regrets about your life?
Valentino Rossi: No I don’t, because my passion was to become a motorcycle rider and I succeeded. Rosario: Thanks, Valentino, you are great and I am your fan.
Valentino Rossi: Thanks you, Rosario and remember, you must always follow your passions!
