Hollywood, in Los Angeles, California, is home to the original American Film Industry and some of the biggest film studios. You can see the Hollywood sign above the city on Mount Lee. Originally the sign said Hollywoodland.
As the show-business capital of the world, Hollywood is home to many famous television and movie studios and record companies. Yet despite its glitzy status, Hollywood has humble roots: It began as a small agricultural community and evolved into a diverse, thriving metropolis where stars are born and dreams come true.
In the city center there is the Hollywood Walk of fame. It has over 2,400 stars with the names of Hollywood legends like Marilyn Monroe or Charlie Chaplin. there are also some fictional characters who have a star including Mickey Mouse and Shreck. Nearby, there is a place that every movie fan would love to visit: Grauman’s Chinese Theatre (also called TCL Chinese Theatre). It is a cinema that looks like a Chinese Palace and lots of decorations actually come from China. It hosts many of the world’s most famous movies premieres, including Star Wars and Jurassic World.
Some of the area’s main attractions are the Paramount Pictures studios, historic music venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, and the Dolby Theatre, home of the Academy Awards ceremony. Nightlife offers comedy clubs, retro-style bars and exclusive nightclubs. In nearby Thai Town there are several restaurants frequented by residents.
Nearby there is Beverly Hills where all the stars live.
