Abortion will soon be illegal in Oklahoma

Adnkronos is an Italian news agency that was founded in 1963 and, in Italy, has offices in the main national capitals: in Rome, Milan, Naples, Turin, Palermo and Florence. Every day, on average, more than 1,800 articles are published. In 2003, Adnkronos International was born, with the intention of providing information regarding Italy, Europe and Islamic countries. The news, therefore, is transmitted in Italian, English, and Arabic. Besides the offices are also located in Paris and Brussels. One of the articles that impressed me the most is the one about the anti-abortion law that will go into effect in Oklahoma starting August 26, 2022. The law prohibits abortion even in cases of rape and incest, but allows it if the pregnancy could cause health risks to the mother or child. The law also provides for penalties of up to $100,000 and up to 10 years in prison for doctors who perform abortions even in the absence of health risks. The president, Kevin Stitt, justified the law by saying, “The most important thing is to stand firm and protect the unborn and life in our state” and “The child doesn’t have to pay for the sins of the father, it’s still a life”.

I think the news is interesting because it makes it clear that these countries are still very closed-minded, even though the people are staging numerous demonstrations to regain the right to choose what concerns their bodies. Although the people have repeatedly expressed their contempt for this law, the bill was passed with 70 votes in favor and only 14 against.
