Hello, my name’s Giulia. I would like to go to Manhattan, one day! I know it because I’ve studied it at school and I’ve watched it on TV. I want to talk about this interesting place : Manhattan is one of the five boroughs of New York City, and the most densely populated. According to estimates published by the United States Census Bureau in 2014, it has a population of 1 636 268.
Spread over an area of 59 square km, the district corresponds to the county of New York, founded on November 1, 1683, and is almost completely made up of the island of Manhattan (surrounded by the Hudson, East and Harlem rivers), but also includes several small islands adjacent to it.
Manhattan is often identified as the economic center of the United States because it is home to Wall Street, home to the New York Stock Exchange, the largest stock exchange in the world by trading volume, and the headquarters of the United Nations. The district is also home to many world-famous bridges, skyscrapers and parks, as well as the world-famous Times Square, nicknamed The Crossroads of the World and The Center of the Universe, and the famous Broadway theater.
