Gianluigi Donnarumma is a very famous Italian footballer. He was born on February 25, 1999 in Castellammare di Stabia and here he grew up with his brothers, Antonio and Alfredo, and his sister Nunzia. Gianluigi was introduced to football by his uncle Alfredo who took him into the pitches of Castellammare. He was enrolled in the football academy of Club Napoli when he was 4 years old. He was a fan of Buffon and he hoped to become like him someday.
In 2013, at the age of 14, he was hired for € 250,000 by Milan, a team of which he has always been a fan and in whose youth teams his brother Antonio had already played. For the first time he joined Filippo Inzaghi’s first team, going on the bench in Serie A, thanks to the exemption from the Football Federation, at 15 years and 11 months. Early talent, he made his Serie A debut when he was 16 years and 8 months, becoming immediately the Milan goalkeeper and with this team he won the Italian Super Cup in 2016. In the same year, he first made his debut in the Italy Under 21 and then in the senior national team. On an individual level, in 2021 he received the Jašin Trophy as the best goalkeeper of the year. He began the 2015-2016 season as third goalkeeper, behind designated holder Diego López and second goalkeeper Christian Abbiati. Thanks also to a positive pre-season, he soon climbed the rankings, making his debut in the top flight on 25 October 2015, in the 2-1 home game against Sassuolo, chosen as the starter by the Rossoneri coach Siniša Mihajlović: during this challenge he suffered by the first goal in Serie A by Domenico Berardi. At the age of 16 years and 8 months he was the second youngest AC Milan goalkeeper to make his debut in the Italian top flight, overtaken by Giuseppe Sacchi for 13 days. Having become the starting goalkeeper, on 31 January 2016 he was deployed in the Milanese Derby, won 3-0 by the Rossoneri, becoming the youngest holder ever in the Milanese derby. He ended his first season as a professional player in the final of the Italian Cup, at the Olimpico in Rome, lost 0-1 to Juventus in extra time. A long series of victories, but also of defeats have strengthened him and made him the footballer he is today.
Now he is the goalkeeper of Paris Saint Germain and of Italian national team. Despite his fame, Gianluigi seems to be a simple person; he is calm, sensitive and emotionally driven. His interest and hobbies are sightseeing, spending time with friends and family and, like all of us, playing video games.
