A matter of style

Catherine Middleton, duchess of Cambridge, better known as Kate Middleton, was born on January 9, 1982, in Reading (a county of Berkshire) and grew up in Chapel Row in England. She studied in Scotland at the university of St. Andrews, were she met Prince William, in 2001. Their engagement was announced in November 2010.

Five months later Kate got married to William exactly on April 29, 2011. The rite was celebrated in Westminster Abbey in the presence of Elizabeth II; the whole Royal family and 1900 guests were there. In addition to the relatives and the couple’s friends from university , the representatives of the main European Monarchies and celebrities like Elton John, David and Victoria Beckham were also present at the wedding.

Kate and William exchanged traditional vows but, Kate did not promise to “obey” her new husband. Instead, the couple vowed “to love, comfort, honor and keep” each other.

From the marriage three children were born: George, Charlotte and Louis.

Kate Middleton never had a royal life before marriage. She comes from an upper- middle- class family.

She is considered above all “style”. Many internet sites, including “Vanityfair” and “Style.com” have included her in several rankings. The site “beautifulpeople.com”, placed her in third position in the ranking of the most beautiful royals ever, behind Grace of Monaco and Rania of Jordan. Her mother- in low, Lady Diana, was second.

Kate Middleton is friendly with everyone. That is like Diana was. She is a reserved person; she is more a listener than a talker: qualities that are well- suited to her actual and future role. She is loved for her simplicity and for her manners. She is involved with several charities. Kate’s first public appearance with Prince William after their engagement announcement was for a teenage cancer trust event, in December 2010. In 2011 the Duke and Duchess sent wedding gift to the royal foundation for charitable works.

Being King or Queen does not mean pretending to be better than others, but having the personality of a good leader who knows how to guide and reassure others, who is able to communicate but also to listen to, whose qualities must be integrity, empathy, courage and above all respect.
