A big failure

The election of the President of the Italian Republic took place in Italy from 24th to 29th January. It was a period of tension for the Italian political class because, after the septenate of Matarella, Italian politicians were not able to find an agreement . Since the very first days the leaders of the center-right parties proposed Silvio Berlusconi for the prestigious role covered in the past, but he was immediately rejected by the center-left wing. For several days parties of both wings went on suggesting names that were always rejected. When they realised that it was hard to find an agreement, they , maybe desperate, found a solution in a second experience of Mattarella as president. According to me this election is a big failure of Italian politics, because as my teacher of philosophy said: “politics is made up only of compromises” and if our government fails to get stuck it means that it has not done a good job. I hope that this continuous political conflict will have a truce to improve economical and social situation in such a wonderful country as Italy!
