Reading is one of the least activities practiced today.It is an art that a few people love, especially among young people, because it is considered boring and a waste of time,they prefer playing video-games or watching TV, activities that require less mental effort , while reading takes time, concentration, you have to stop and dedicate to yourself. Furthermore, it doesn’t satisfy any of those needs that today’s society considers important to become successful people,forgetting that a lot of our knowledge and our learning is due to the books we read throughout our life.
Everyone should read, because it’s the only weapon to defeat ignorance and illiteracy.

According to recent statistics young people read more than old people. This seems to have happened to more adults instead, about 40% of Italians over fifty read books and drops to 23% in people from 65 to 74.
Despite my young age I understood that Culture is forever. Only in books we can find the richness we need, not money but culture. The stories told in the books allow us to run with our imagination in magical and fantastic worlds.
When you are captured by reading it is forever, no matter if we are six years old, and we can barely distinguish the letters of the alphabet, or if we are sixty. The important thing is that it is a spontaneous choice, although it seems that if parents usually read, children do it too.
Actually reading, said by an avid reader, is a fantastic training for mental activity and reflection, it is something that colors a world that would otherwise be black and white, which gives us always new interpretations, which makes us mature, grow and get used to dreaming. Those who see reading as an obligation will never be able to perceive its magic: it is the discovery of something you did not know and that you may not have wanted to know; you wander into another person’s thoughts and nightmares, finding that they are not too far from the ones that keep you awake. It is to dream just lying on the bed. Reading must exploit the enormous potential of digitization, trying to spread culture and love for it through new technologies. On the other hand, young people themselves should avoid a priori to consider reading a boring activity, turning off all electronic gadgets for just an hour, and catapulting into the world of their fantasies. Reading helps to relax and overcome loneliness, develops empathy and critical sense.
