On March 8th the International Women’s Day occurs. It is a day dedicated to honor women throughout history and all across the world, and it is a day for women from all different backgrounds and cultures, a day to fight for gender equality and women’s rights. It is a day of reflection.
The yellow mimosa has become the symbol of this festival , as it is the emblem of strength, tenacity and beauty; it can adapt to all types of land. The origin of this celebration dates back to 1910 when a woman called Clara Zetkin suggested this idea at an International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen. There were 100 women there, from 17 countries, and they agreed on her suggestion unanimously. ”A woman with a book and a pen has the power to move nations. A woman with a mind and a voice has the power to change worlds”.
