WHO WAS LEONARDO DA VINCI?

Leonardo Da Vinci was called a GENIUS.

He was born on April 15, 1452 in Anchiano, son of Ser Piero and mother Caterina who was a young farmer and consequently could not see his son.  Leonardo in 1466 moved to Florence and in 1469 he went to school in Andrea del Verrocchio’s workshop where he learned to draw, paint and sculpt his pupils.

One day Verrocchio asked Leonardo to paint an angel in the work “THE BAPTISM OF CHRIST” and Leonardo painted it better than the one painted by Verrocchio and it is said that from that day Verrocchio did not paint anymore.

Leonardo had also become famous because he always left his creations incomplete.

Leonardo is also the one who painted the “CENACOLO” that is the last supper with Jesus and the 12 apostles and it took him 3 years to make it, then it was discovered that by joining the pieces of bread and the hands it is possible to see some notes that played backward make up a melody.

Another feature of Leonardo is that he wrote from right to left.

In 1503 Leonardo began to paint the “GIOCONDA” and it took 10 years to complete it.

In 1504, when he was 80, Leonardo’s father died.

In 1505 Leonardo invented a real flying machine.

He invented many other things and in 1519 on May 2nd he died and was buried in Amboise.

His life will remain in history forever!
