A lot of famous people are concerned about the world and the environment and they are succeeding very well even better than politicians. They help charities and when a charity is connected to a star, it gets publicity, people become interested and they want to help. Here is an actress who is trying to make the world a better place.

Angelina Jolie is a wonderful actress. She was born in Los Angeles in 1975 and just over fourteen she began working in fashion as a model: her job led her to travel between the USA and Europe. She started acting in some student films made by her brother and in 1999 she got a role in the film “Interrupted Girls” where she played the role of the sociopath Lisa Rowe and for her interpretation she got the Oscar for the best supporting actress. In 2000, she acted in her first blockbuster “Out in 60 seconds” by Dominic Sena.
But Angelina’s personality became aware of the terrible humanitarian crisis during the filming of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider which that took place in Cambodia: in this country she could see with her own eyes the conditions of misery and poverty people lived in. She turned to UNHCR ( United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) for more information on international outbreaks. In February 2001 she undertook an eighteen-days mission between Sierra Leone and Tanzania and in the following months she returned to Cambodia for two weeks. Ever since, she has travelled to more than 30 countries as a goodwill ambassador over the last 15 years, to help the refugees and displaced people.
In 2003, Jolie received the first-ever Citizen of the World Award from the United Nations Correspondents Association for her contributions to helping refugees and in 2005 she received the Global Humanitarian Award from the United Nations Association of the USA for her work with UNHCR. In 2010, the UNHCR promoted Angelina from a Goodwill Ambassador to a diplomat. As a diplomat she spoke against sexual violence in armed conflict.
In 2006 she founded “Jolie Pitt Foundation” with her husband and they gave $ 1 million to Doctors Without Borders and Global Action for Children. This Foundation works to fight extreme rural poverty and to protect natural resources and wildlife.
During her first pregnancy in 2006 Angelina gave “People” magazine exclusive rights to publish the first picture of her with a baby bump in exchange for a $500,000 donation to the charities she and Brad supported!
In 2007, she became member of Council of Foreign Relations and worked to stop mass atrocities and genocide.
The actress supports several charities and foundations such as the Alliance for the Lost Boys, which provides medical coverage along with education and school supplies for the Lost Boys of Sudan and their families.

Angelina Jolie has got a natural beauty both inside and out. In Angelina there is more than just her look and superb acting skills. When she is on a mission, she lives in the same way as other volunteers… Not very comfortable for a Hollywood star!
Come on Angelina, keep doing the work you do so well!
