Expedia, is an American company active as a travel website, a global leader in the segment of tourism accessible via the web. The company is on the market offering a wide range of products and services, dedicated to satisfying the consumer and business sectors, including the brands, Expedia Travel Corporate, Classic Custom Vacation,, Hotwire. Through the portals of Expedia you can book plane tickets, hotels, rental cars, cruises, holiday packages and various services of tourist interest at competitive prices.

The company’s origins date back to 1996, when entrepreneur Rich Barton and his colleague Lloyd Frink formed the company Expedia within the Microsoft division. The company developed quickly and in 1999 made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange, in the Nasdaq segment. In the following years the company was sold to USA Networks and from 2003 it became part of the company, IAC Travel, belonging to the multinational IAC/ Interactivecorp. Following the split in 2005, the travel portal became an independent unit, Expedia Inc., which mainly deals with the e-travel business, through its direct hotel and air booking engine. Expedia has its headquarters in Washington, D.C., with offices located between America, Asia and Europe. The company operates through the 150 booking portal of its brands.
