Student gets burned in a workshop in Merano

In Merano a 17 year old boy, on the afternoon of May 20, 2022, was seriously injured in a workshop due to a backfire during the school-work alternation. A 36 year old worker was also injured with him.

This is the third serious accident this year during the school-work alternation.

The Student Union will not stand by, but will begin to create strikes and student mobilizations across the country to improve everyone’s safety at work. “We will not stand by, there will be strikes and student mobilizations all over the country”, announces, in fact, the Students’ Union.

“The work on ITS is fundamental because it is the school that serves to mend and raise the entire system of skills in our country. Italy is all to be trained, we must not only talk about the training of children: in the meantime, let’s start thinking again the school as a structured part of the country and not as a world apart.”

This was stated by the Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi, speaking at the Didacta event, taking place at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. He said that we need to start thinking about the school as a structured part of the country, which serves to mend and raise its entire system of skills.

We must not think of the school as a separate organization, but start protecting it and protecting students. Then he added: “I want to address a thought to the boy from Merano. There are too many deaths at work in this country, the tolerable number is zero, no more.”

This news must make us reflect, one again, on the fact that there are too many deaths at work; this is a horrible situation to which we must pay close attention.
