School students from all over Italy call for peace. Here are some of the many initiatives in support of the Ukrainian people.
Loano (Savona): The children who use the school bus service in Loano wanted to show their their solidarity with the Ukrainian people during their daily “walk” to school. They waved flags in the colours of Ukraine and a life-size peace flag in protest against thr war.
The same peace flags were on the ‘back’ of the Ukrainian flags, symbolising that peace is the only way to end the crisis triggered by the Russian invasion.
Children attending schools in Corso Europa, in particular, temporarily interrupted traffic on the traffic on the avenue in the city centre by waving their flags as they crossed the pedestrian crossing.
Palermo: One hundred and sixty pupils from the “Rita Borsellino” School in Palermo painted a large rainbow flag, formed the word ‘peace’ and shouted it at the top of their lungs. “I saw excited children shouting: peace, peace!”, says Daniele Giliberti, head of the association of volunteers who, together with the teachers, guided and accompanied the children in this beautiful initiative.
