Press Review, Sofía Jirau: Victoria’s Secret’s first Down’s Syndrome model

Twenty-five-year-old Sofía Jirau, from Puerto Rico, marks another small but important turning point in the world of women’s clothing. She is the first model with Down’s syndrome to be chosen as testimonial for Victoria’s Secret, the famous American brand leader in the lingerie sector.

She announced it herself, on Instagram: “I once dreamed of it, I worked on it, today that dream comes true,” the young woman wrote on social media. “I am the first model with Down Syndrome to be part of Victoria’s Secret!”.

Sofía Jirau has been chosen as the face of the Love Cloud campaign, representing a change in the brand’s image, which in the past has often been accused of lacking inclusivity.

“Thank you all for supporting me and my projects. Thank you Victoria’s Secret for seeing me as a #nolimits model and hiring me for the inclusive Love Cloud Collection campaign,” the model continued on Instagram. “This is just the beginning. Inside and out there are no limits.”
