Stello Vadalà, 65, teacher of literature from Messina, has been appointed as the new director of studies for Messina. After 15 years, he officially leaves the management of the Majorana Technical Institute in Milazzo, which now has 72 classes and 1700 students and which he has transformed into a true centre of excellence, a reference institute for science and technology.
Rumours about his appointment had been circulating for weeks but the official news only arrived yesterday.
A prestigious assignment and another addition to an impressive academic career.
Appreciated by his teaching colleagues and well-liked by his students, Vadalà began teaching after graduating in Literature and Philosophy in Catania in 1980, following a competition for a professorship of which he was the winner.
In addition to a long experience at the University of Palermo as an assistant professor of “Orientation of Contemporary Literature” at the Higher Institute of Journalism, Vadalà can also count on thirty years of experience as a publicist as a theatre and music critic for the daily newspaper “La Sicilia” in Catania.
An associate member of the “Accademia peloritana dei pericolanti”, he is the author of a series of valuable publications that have won him numerous awards.
“I have known him for a long time, both professionally and personally,” said Barbara Floridia, the undersecretary for education from Messina. “Principal Vadalà has always had excellent management skills and good relations between the school and the local area.”
Mr Vadalà said: “I am honoured by the role I am going to play in the city I live in, which I love and which I am preparing to serve from the angle of the school world. I know that I can count on extraordinary skills, on technical apparatus of consolidated experience, valuable school leaders, courageous and passionate teachers, thanks to whom our world has been able to continue to educate the younger generations over the last two very difficult years, amidst difficulties that no one can escape because of the pandemic. I am taking on this role with enthusiasm, with the aim of ensuring efficiency and serenity in a complex planet.
