Debate is a discussion of opinions, governed by specific procedures, between interlocutors who argue for and against an assigned topic. The rules of the “game” envisage that the position in favour or against can also be not shared by the debaters, who must also be able to put forward appropriate arguments, with rules of time and fairness, without prejudice and prevarication, listening to and respecting the opinions of others, demonstrating mental flexibility and openness to other visions and positions.
