When the Concorde appeared for the first time, it was a success. It was a supersonic transport aircraft manufactured by the Anglo-French consortium. The first fly of the prototype was made on March 2, 1969, but it officially entered service on 21 January 1976 on the Paris-Dakar-Rio De Janeiro and London. It used a really advanced technology. The flying experience on the Concorde was different than on a subsonic commercial airliner in many ways. passenger cabin was configured in a single class with 100 seats, 25 rows with four seats per row, divided into pairs on each side, with a central aisle, in order to make the most of the limited space available. It could reduce the time in which it covered its routes, for example the journey from London to New York was on average around 3 and a half hours. It was a success until on 25 July 2000, when the Concorde was involved in a terrible accident, where all 100 passengers, nine crew members and four people on the ground were killed, and remained wounded six people always on the ground. It was the only fatal accident to a Concorde. Most of the passengers on board were a group of Germans heading to New York to join a cruise. At the moment of take-off, when it was still on the ground, flames began to break out. At first it was suspected that it was a terrorist attack. The official investigation determined, however, that the disaster was caused by a titanium metal fragment lost from a DC-10 of the Continental, a US company, which took off a few minutes earlier. Ten years after the drama (2010), the justice sentenced the American company to a fine of 200 thousand euros as compensation to the victims. In 2012, a sensational sentence on appeal by the court of Versailles overturned the decision taken by justice in the first instance. Today after nine years, the Concorde is coming back. Of course, i twill be difficult to forget that accident, but people know that it will be great again to fly on it.
