J.K.Rowling and Harry Potter

J.K. Rowling is a British writer who became famous thanks to Harry Potter, a series of books that deal with harry the wizard and his adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Rowling had the idea for harry Potter on a train from Manchester to London that was delayed. She couldn’t write anything down because her pen didn’t work and she was too shy to ask someone for one. But by the time she arrived at King’s Cross, many of the characters had taken shape. She started writing as soon as she got home, a private flat near Clapham Junction train station.

In 1995, after five years, she finished her first Harry Potter book: “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. This book was rejected by a lot of publishers and only in 1997 it was in the shops. It was a great success all around the world.

The seven books of the saga tell the story of young Harry Potter, who, on his eleventh birthday, discovers he is a wizard and is sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The saga follows Harry, accompanied by his loyal friends Ron and Hermione, as he struggles to defeat Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard intent on subjugating all wizards and muggles (the non-magical people).

Harry Potter books are in 67 different languages.
