Greenpeace is an organization that has several goals:
-to protect the environment;
-to promote peace;
-to investigate and report environmental crimes committed anywhere in the world.
Greenpeace consists of 26 organizations in over 55 countries. It has a fleet of ships that sails the seas in defense of the environment:
Rainbow Warrior – made with green technology;
Arctic Sunrise – the ship to navigate the poles;
Esperanza – the lightship.
Greenpeace was founded in 1971 in Vancouver with the aim of stopping the nuclear tests that were being carried out on an Arctic island. Its name is the combination of the 2 words Green =Green and Peace= Peace, that is Greenpeace, an association that wants to fight peacefully for the protection of the environment.
Among the most important struggles conducted by Greenpeace, we can mention the protection of the climate, the rescue of whales, seals, and penguins, the interruption of nuclear tests, the fight against global warming, opposition to genetic engineering, the stop to trawling, the disposal of toxic waste.
There are several ways to become a part of Greenpeace, one is to become a supporter through financial donations, and another is to become a volunteer or an activist.
