Elon Musk is the man of the year 2021 according to the famous magazine “Time” which named him “person of the year” last December 13th after an interview on December 10th.
Clearly, there are many reasons to justify this choice, just consider all that Elon is doing in many ways, from the robotic and automotive industry with Tesla, the aerospace industry with SpaceX, the travel industry with “The boring Company”, the medical and neuro-technologies industry with Neuralink, artificial intelligence with “OpenAI” and the production of clean energy with Solarcity, which will be probably used to feed the hypothetical colonies on Mars that the entrepreneur aims to create as soon as possible.
However, there are many criticisms from some who see Elon as a threat to the future of scientific research, such as the director of the European Space Agency (ESA), Josef Aschbacher, who said that the governments of the world are leaving only to one man the control of half of the satellites in space giving him, in fact, full control. Others criticize him for what he is doing with OpenAI, worried about what artificial intelligence could be, or for the fact he has shown several times that he can control the global market simply by posting a few sentences on Twitter, so we just have to wait and see if Elon Musk’s desire to save the world will make him a superhero or a supervillain.
