DISCOVERING ARCHIMEDES: AN IMAGINARY INTERVIEW WITH THE ARCHIMEDES PARK MUSEUM DIRECTOR IN SYRACUSE.

Francesca: What a beautiful and interesting  park , a green and relaxing space , the ideal place for those who are interested in sciences and Archimedes, the great Syracusan scientist. Director, what does this museum represent?

Director: it is certainly  a cultural place of enormous historical and scientific interest for those who wish to make cultural tourism in Syracuse and an interesting opportunity for school children from direct observation of scientific demonstrations.

Francesca : is there a virtual space in the museum?

Director: yes, there is. With Oculos go , an interactive game , you will enter the world of Archimedes and his inventions.

Francesca: Can I try this experience now?

Director: Ok, put on these 3D glasses..

Francesca: fantastic! I can see the Dionysian walls and the Eurialo castle…. Woww..and all Archimedes’ inventions! The innovative war machines he created to protect Syracuse from invasions, his geometrical theories including the area of a circle , the surface area and volume and sphere.

Director: Archimedes was  one of the first mathematicians to apply mathematics to physical phenomena founding hydrostatics and statics, and the explanation of the principle of the lever. He brought significant changes in the history of science. “Overcome your limitations and become masters of the universe.” Transire suum pectus mundoque potiri, one of his famous quotes.

Francesca: Interesting! how much is the ticket?

Director: that’s  six euros for adults and 4 euros for students and children.
