Cycling is one of the most increasingly popular sports in Italy and in several other European countries (France, the Netherlands, Spain). Some of his past champions have become legendary (just think of Bartali or Coppi to whom films, books and songs have been dedicated), and some sporting feats, or rivalries, have entered history. The first competitive cycling competitions developed at the end of the nineteenth century and already in the last decade of the nineteenth century . Those competitions (often exhausting for the distances and conditions of the roads) began to be raced. However, it is also a sport, for several years now, much discussed, and whose image is compromised, as one of the most involved sport in the doping problem. The habit of doping has spread even to involve the categories of young people and amateurs.However, the repressive action of the Federations seems to have mitigated the problem.
