A GREENER LIFE FOR A BETTER PLANET.

Did you know that we can help our environment even by choosing our food? So it begs the question: how green is your diet? As a matter of fact a diet that consists of more plant-based foods than meats and dairy, not only makes us healthier but also helps the environment. If you eat organic food you are also choosing the way the food is produced. It’s like you’re saying NO to the use of chemicals in the soil and to the overuse of antibiotic drugs in farm animals. These can harm the environment but also affect our health. As it may be beneficial to our lives unfortunately it is not advantageous for our pockets because nowadays organic food is really expensive and it sometimes requires some quality control so as to ensure that is has really been produced in the way that the labels promise. In addition to eating healthy, if you are interested in protecting the environment, you can also do many other things such as the purchase of local products in order to reduce the climate change impacts of transportation and to avoid processed food which used petroleum based plastic. If you care about your food, your environment and our lives, be more responsible in choosing what you eat and let’s help each other to protect the nature. We need to raise awareness that our food choices affect our health, which is strongly linked to the health of the planet. Let’s pay attention to what we put on the table, remember the words of Walter Ricciardi, Italian representative on the executive committee of the World Health Organisation. “There is no way for us to live longer and happier lives unless our planet is well,” he said.
