“A fashion that does not reach the streets is not fashion”
by Coco Chanel.
The concept of fashion was born thousands of years ago, just think of the Roman tunic or Greek peplos. Indeed, fashion has always had a role, sometimes even main in the life of man as for example in the 1700s and 1800s with the gorgeous clothes in France and England. Unlike in the past, today teenagers are particularly interested in fashion, especially as regards clothing, in fact most young people follow fashion or at least try. But who dictates the laws? World-renowned designers, other times the famous fashion bloggers who, in recent years have depopulated on social media. In fact, through magazines and social we discover the latest trends and the “must have” to have within our wardrobe. Fashion, however, does not always mean following the trends of the moment; in fact, it is fashion to express yourself going against the trend, maybe creating a new one. Fashions are not negative because they allow integration within a group, but at the same time because of prejudices you risk to exclude someone for his look. Fashion has also found its place in the global pandemic that we are experiencing through the “mask contest”, a race to those who have the most particular mask. Many brands have created masks with their logo, but for some very creative people this is not enough, in fact it is much more fun to have a mask with your own face, so as to pretend not to have it on.
So, do you prefer to follow or to create fashions?
